Christian Formation and CCD are another term for what many churches call "Sunday School."
Here at STM, we offer religious education classes for children in kindergarten through middle
school at 10 AM on Sundays during the school year.
First Communion
This class is preparation for the reception of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. First
Communion usually occurs during Second grade.
Confirmation
Confirmation is intended for those students wishing to make a mature commitment to their faith.
For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and
are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ,
more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed" (Catechism of the
Catholic Church #1285 and Lumen Gentium 11). Because this sacrament is the completion of
baptism and this is the first time that the person makes a mature commitment to his/her faith,
Confirmation class is only open to students in the Ninth grade or older.
All Christian Formation classes begin each Fall. Contact Zach about enrolling your child.
RCIA
RCIA is for people interested in learning more about Catholicism, becoming Catholic or if you
were raised Catholic but missed any or all of the sacraments. These "classes" begin each Fall of the
new academic year. Contact Zach if you are interested.
