There was a fire in the attic at the St. Thomas More Center around 6:30 pm on
Department, a second fire ignited in the attic around 11 PM.
Neither Fr. Tim, nor any staff or students, were present in the building at the
time, of the first fire, and both of the dogs were safely removed from the house.

The actual fire and burn damage was contained to the attic area of the Center.
However there is significant water damage on the second floor (Fr. Tim's home),
and in the basement. The first floor was minimally affected by the fire, but
seriously damaged by the water used to extinguish the fires.
The building was deemed unusable without major renovations. After all the
contents were removed, the next 6 months (June to the end of November) were
spent replacing wiring, walls, floors, etc.)

We were generously offered office spaces at the USC Campus Ministries Center
(aka the Palm Center.) For six months, Fr. Tim, Pam, Ann (& later Jill) and Zach
(who started after the fires and never saw the Center in its original state) shared
space with the Palm Center copier.
In all the inconvenience and delays (there are always delays in construction or
re-construction projects!), it was absolutely wonderful and amazing to see just
how our community worked together. God was very good to our Community
through all of this experience.
We moved back in (though we're not completely unpacked) just in time for our
Parish Christmas Party. We're posting a few before & after pics of our
renovations.
