Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
(RCIA)
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adu1ts

Thinking about becoming Catholic? Take the
next step…
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (or “RCIA”),
is a process through which men and women enter the
Catholic Church. The process includes several stages
marked by community, study, prayer, and various
rites at Mass. Choosing to become Catholic at St.
Thomas More offers a unique opportunity to join a
rich faith community. This unique setting provides
many opportunities for prayer and abundance of
spiritual resources.

Ready?
Through your year-long journey through RCIA, you
will be paired with a sponsor and share your
experience with your sponsor. Together, you will
undergo a process of formation that includes study of
the Gospels and Church teaching, community
service, and honest reflection on your relationship
with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. The
journey culminates with the reception of the
Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy
Eucharist during the Easter Vigil at St Thomas More.

Who is RCIA for?
▪Those who have never been baptized (known as
catechumens)
▪Those who have been baptized in another Christian
denomination and wish to enter into Full Communion
with the Catholic Church (known as ‘candidates”)
▪Those who have been baptized Catholic & have
received no other Sacraments

Other opportunities in the RCIA Program:
Are you already confirmed, and active Catholic?
Exited about sharing your faith?

You can get involved, too! Many RCIA candidates
and catechumens are in need of sponsor to serve as
both mentor and friend along the way, accompanying
them along the journey and edifying them in their
faith. Sponsors participate in sessions, and liturgical
celebration along with their candidate or catechumen.

sessions,
